the animation and soundtrack is lit, and i really tried to like this besides that, but i literally couldn’t. it’s very slow, i almost fell asleep, and i didn’t connect with it at all. it felt like a film you’d watch after a long day of work when you don’t really wanna think much and just, watch… something… 

but i’ve heard that Patlabor 2 is a lot better, so we’ll see.

The designs and animation are so astounding that I had to switch from subs to the Bandai dub just to get a little more screen real estate to take it all in. It usually takes direction from someone like Oshii or Yuasa for me to make that call.

On top of all of this, the character moments are still so great and impactful just like the OVA. Everyone gets a moment or two. Huge laugh at Goto in the helicopter after the huge finale with his eyes half-lidded like always.
