Beautifully shot and a razor sharp demonstration of how history affects us all regardless of whether we actually lived through it or not.
And yeah, the reveal that the white boomer who lives on a former plantation and brags about his money and “taste” was racist the whole time was hardly surprising. His being gay didn’t distract me from those red flags. But I could’ve never predicted that vile tirade at the end. Not because I didn’t think he had it in him, but because I couldn’t believe someone who fancies themselves a progressive was comfortable going fully mask-off on camera. Anyway, huge props to this team for not shying away from showing how easily racism can infiltrate LGBTQ spaces.
Also, that racist auto shop owner who acted like all of his customers would forget he existed and the business would go under overnight if he just picked up his shed and moved it somewhere else was an absolute clown. It’s not that I don’t think he has a right to keep or sell his property as he sees fits, but you just know he’d fold like a lawn chair if any other entity who wanted it for any other reason offered him that money. I concur with the tour guide’s assessment: Get a job!!
