Linda Blair came on this bitch MAD AS HELL!
Reminded of Class of 1984, another excellent high school-set teen exploitation flick. I absolutely love these high school revenge flicks. I mean school’s already rough, even without the rape, so I really enjoy these films that offer escapist fun. The performances are solid, and the protagonists are surprisingly well written. I really love the dynamic between the main girls. The soundtrack is super fun and that third act was amazing as hell. The film also offers some commentary on youth gangs and street violence but never feels preachy. Highly recommended to anyone who loves revenge exploitation flicks, it’s one of the best of its era.
So this was a question that came to me while watching this. I already have my answer but I just wanted to ask you guys to hear your thoughts. Let’s say you watch an exploitation film and it has really good social commentary and positive messages and well developed characters, but it also has the classic exploitation elements like lurid sexualization and stuff. Do those exploitation elements hinder the “smart” elements of the film/make it shallow to you or not?
