His friend, Prince Andrei Bolkonsky, joins the Imperial Russian Army as aide-de-camp of General Mikhail Kutuzov in the War of the Third Coalition against General Napoleon Bonaparte. Part one of the four-part adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's 1869 novel.

The scale is so large it’s almost hard to comprehend. Such a brilliant part 1 but could stand alone. The battle scenes are among the best I’ve ever seen, the dialogue is brillant, the aerial shots are beautiful, could talk for hours of how awesome this was
