A beast of a film. Deeply moving, inspiring, funny and heartbreaking. This is a remarkable feat which manages to represent a pure and immediate bond between two women, who quickly become close friends. Meanwhile, it also delves in serious social commentary both about healthcare and the state of the world. And if that weren’t enough, the characterization, writing and performances are outstanding. It manages to shift tones, languages, time and settings seamlessly. The long runtime is crucial to making all these things work, as the film is very dense but at the same time manages to not be overwhelming.
It’s been a great privilege to watch this relatively early. I cannot recommend enough keeping a close eye on this film and seeing it whenever possible.
