A weird case that happens every once in a while where I like everything on paper and even think there are great elements to it but it just didn’t excite me nearly as much as I’d have liked it too. This feels like it goes by weirdly slowly given its short runtime and the kinds of actual stuff that is going on and only usually has moments of really going all out to the level you’d want it to. The ending, while good, also felt oddly abrupt to me (this is more of a product of the flaws built up to that point and the overall story structure than of the ending itself I think). Still, I don’t want to be too harsh on it because I did like it, and Richard E. Grant is just so fun to watch here. He is really going all out and makes the humor of the entire thing amplified. There are also some really neat effects that I enjoyed a lot. It really is creative and I can dig something this weird. What it’s saying isn’t anything exactly new but you can’t even try to say you’ve seen it delivered in such a way before. certainly could have been more of a hit for me but we desperately need these kind of films in the overall umbrella of everything. Unlike much else, and just so bizarre. Worth a watch at least once, and undeniably worth making. Also George Harrison executive produced which is a really quick way to get on my good side.
