will always love a coming of age <333. new zealand is soooooo beautiful. love sid and all the side characters. i think i assumed more would happen going in but it felt very realistic. being 14 can be eventful but uneventful. rain spencer was very good for this role. loved hearing n.e.r.d. in the party scene.

Such a raw and intimate coming of age story. I really resonated with this film and saw a lot of my teenage self in Sid, navigating friendships, trying to fit in, and exploring sexuality. Great performances from the whole cast and so well-written <3

Ani Palmer and Rain Spencer are a really great duo. Every moment they share together are among the strongest of the film imo. A really interesting dynamic that’s such a breath of fresh air in a coming of age film that otherwise can be a pretty rough watch. 
Palmer carries a heavy weight and does so beautifully, without a standout performance in that role the film fails. And on a debut no less. 
Schneideman said something in the Q&A that rings so true to me, that Rain Spencer was the type of actor that makes you feel like you’re the most important person in the room. Handled her character with such warmth. 
For sure two of my favorite performances of the fest.
