The Great Sinner takes you along with Gregory Peck to a gambling resort where everyone is insane and Ava Gardner and Walter Huston live there and are also insane. I swear nearly every scene in this is either just about gambling or romance. It does have its moments but it suffers from predictability so there's not really any suspense during the gambling scenes. Nobody acts how a normal person would act, but I can forgive it for a film in this genre.
I loved the gowns Gardner wears in this. Irene was fantastic.
Ava Gardner plays a pretty good femme fatale but here it just doesn't hit as hard. She changes herself way too quickly as Peck is changing himself. I think I'm going to revisit The Killers again now. The world premiere of The Great Sinner was held in my hometown so I had to give it a shot.
