Classic “computer in charge of the nukes - what could go wrong?” kind of movie. It looks quite good and you gotta love the bleeps, bloops, and the chakachakachaka of green text on CRT monitors. The video calling technology is just a normal landline phone with a wooden television attached.
It was a more optimistic time - refreshing! - but politically innocent. A time when every sci-fi just assumed exponential technological and societal development, but the writers never ended up studying public choice. Everyone is very kind and polite, does the right thing, and speaks with Star Trek coldness and objectively, and it’s just that pesky AI that causes issues. A bit of a fantasy, but fun.
