I just wanna to use this to express my happiness about Michael B Jordan winning best actor last night.
Since the first time I watched Sinners I thought that his performance was brilliant.
Everything Michael does to bring Smoke and Stack to life is perfect. His masterful portrayal of two characters who are so different yet so alike is worthy of the Oscar he won last night. His performance perfectly captures the feeling that we're watching two characters with completely distinct personalities, who complement each other perfectly, two characters who couldn't live without each other. That feeling, while obviously important thanks to Ryan's direction and script, depends entirely on the actor who brings them to life.
I don't mean to diminish the performances of the other actors, I think they all did incredible work, at least those I saw. I even think some nominations were missing, like Paul Mescal's for Hamnet. Even so, I think what Michael B. Jordan does is more memorable.
His speech was beautiful btw. I couldn't help but cry. A well deserved Oscar for an actor who has been delivering incredible performances trough all his career.
