been more than 10 years since i last watched this and boy am i glad i did — it’s visually gorgeous, beautifully animated (like, shockingly so), has a really well written ICON of a main character, and is so weird in both concept and execution that you just have to applaud the fact that it exists
… but it really is weird, so intentionally uncanny that i can’t imagine kids enjoying it, and so shallow in plot that it doesn’t really scratch the itch for adults
it’s a kids’ book with cardboard pages — i respect the hell out of its game, but i was pretty bored for its entire runtime. probably won’t rewatch any time soon
i did actually get jumpscared once, though 💀
