Yeah, that sent me straight into a Mask of the Phantasm rewatch spiral. Because listen… if she’s not playing Vicki Vale (which would honestly still be fire), then PLEASE let Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin be cooking up a live-action Andrea Beaumont. Scarlett as the Phantasm? The cape, the voice, the tragedy, the menace?? OH MY GOD. I would evaporate in the theater. This movie just hits even harder when you start imagining that reveal in a live-action Reeves-verse.
And with Reeves already hinting that Part II is putting the spotlight more on Bruce Wayne, the timing could not be more perfect. Andrea is the ultimate test for Bruce—romantic, emotional, moral, everything—and watching Pattinson’s Bruce struggle between wanting a normal life and sinking deeper into the cowl while slowly uncovering that the woman he’s falling for is literally the Phantasm? Inject that into my veins. I’m already seated. I need this storyline, this tension, this heartbreak, ASAP. Five stars for the movie, five more for the potential future.
