I will start this review by saying that I don’t think this movie was meant for me.

I went into this movie not really knowing anything about it and found myself confused throughout the film.

I was of the belief going into this that it was meant to be a mockumentary of making a bad film, come to find out that it’s actually kind of a documentary of making a bad movie? I think?

And seeing this at the Adelaide Film Festival where the packed cinema all seemed to be in on the joke and had presumably seen the actual film that this movie is based around made for a confusing experience for me as a viewer. 

I still don’t actually quite know if this was a mockumentary or not. Does the blurred line between reality and fiction mean that they’ve done a good job? There’s a very very small part of me that is intrigued to see the movie that was made in this documentary (The Land That Time Forgot (2025)), but I know deep down that I would likely just turn it off after twenty minutes. 

I don’t wanna shit on an Adelaide production, but yeah. Confusing watch.
