drawcinema summary: Despite Cosby allegations, this movie is funny, quirky, and has emotional heart that still makes me tear up every time that I watch it.
1. This is one of the only few Hollywood Movies that does the "cartoon in the real world" trope right. Instead of integrating CGI animation they have two worlds split between each other through a gateway: a TV set. It's not forced, but there are a few plot holes here and there. For example, what would happen if Doris plays an Fat Albert DVD? Would the gang still come out of the TV? Does her tears still have some sort of magic power to have all cartoon characters come out of their shows?
2. When the emotional moments come into the movie, it doesn't detract. I feel the emotions pour out right through the screen. This is a movie that takes its emotional moments seriously where it has weight.
3. This movie is peak 2000's. I find it funny seeing the gang adjust to modern technology and I feel a sense of nostalgia watching this film. Seeing makes me feel safe.
Overall, Despite Cosby. This film was my childhood and watching it again gave me the same feelings of being a kid that I have once had.
It's still a bit early 2000's slump, which is why it's three stars.
