This film is one of the greatest sci fi let alone Japanese animation films i have ever watched. I heard about this film through a post on Hideo Kojima’s Instagram story. While it wasn’t shared directly with me, I trust his recommendations since he’s usually a great source for movies Recommendation's and oh boy this film was something special, from its incredible pacing (which some anime movies struggled with at the time), it's unique and very interesting story, it's incredible world building and in my opinion an animation style which is so unique and i feel as though it still holds up 47 years later. i loved the music in this movie, i found myself bobbing my head or tapping my feet a lot of the time when music was playing. the scenery in this film was amazing it honestly provides such a eye opener to the world around Tetsuo (The protagonist) i even loved the relationship between Tetsuo and Maetel. Even Tetsuo's connection to some of the wanted space pirates where really nice and sad in someway to see. even the plot twist near the end was extremely unexpected.
Here is a brief plot drop. Tetsuo lives in a time where you can put your soul into a robot and live eternally and through unfortunate circumstances Tetsuo loses his mum due to a human now robot called Count Mecha. Tetsuo is now wanting to become a robot and kill count mecha this a film is about Tetsuo journey to achieve that goal.
This film was a Dimond in the rough it was a phenomenal experience through the whole film if you ever get the chance to watch this film please do i can not recommend it enough especially if your a sci fi nerd like me, overall 5/5
