Kamisama no ekohiiki honestly surprised me more than I expected. It starts off feeling kind of light, but the more it goes on, the more it hits in a really direct way.
What I liked the most is how real the message feels. It doesn’t try to romanticize everything or make it perfect—instead, it puts you in that uncomfortable place where you start questioning things you usually avoid. For me, it hit way too close because I saw myself in that exact thought of “what if I were a girl, would he like me?” That kind of insecurity is portrayed in a very honest way, not exaggerated or forced.
I also like how it handles emotions. It’s not intense all the time, but when it needs to be, it actually lands and stays with you. It’s not just a typical BL focused on cute romance, it goes deeper into identity, insecurity, and how your sense of self affects the way you experience love.
Although, to be honest, I expected more and it was a bit slow, so I lowered the rating a little.
