Spy Game - Something tells me Tom can’t go to China for vacation
Spy Game is a movie released in 2001, about a CIA agent, Nathan (Robert Redford, RIP), finding out his friend, Tom Bishop (Brad Pitt) got arrested in Shanghai for suspection of espionage, and now he has to find a way to free Tom within 24 hours, without killing himself.
Spy Game is a fun, smart, but flawed movie. Even though the name of the movie is pretty bad, it’s subjectively the most logistical movie I’ve watched, except the climax, as it’s rushed, and it’s unrealistic.
Now, for me, it uses colors pretty well, it showcases different parts of the world pretty well. Like in Vietnam, warm, yellow. In China, black, cold. In the Middle East, it’s pretty natural in colors. Can say the same for lighting, some places there is light over the entire shot, like in Nam’, and others, often only singular lights, like in China.
And it’s rather predictable, as it somehow follows a formulaic plot, on a non-linear movie. And it follows a sub-plot which fails, trying to create a romantic subplot in this movie, fails completely.
Overall? It’s an average movie, it’s fun! But predictable, but logical! Recommended for people who needs fun, but also needs something to think about.
