5-hour Version
This is my review for both Part 1 and 2
My god…wow…just wow. From the first 25 minutes I was blown away, it throws the audience straight into the action, it shows us who we root for and the stakes at hand and immediately I was along for the ride, without any quiet sense of character depth to start out on, it actually managed to give me goosebumps and hit me emotionally, I was utterly overjoyed while being overwhelmed at the same time.
Yes it’s epic, yes it’s thrilling, yes it’s musical score makes you want to jump into the screen and fight with them, but don’t be fooled there is real character development and people in this film that make it special, I saw one review compare Takeshi Kaneshiro‘s character to Legolas from Lord of the Rings, and I can’t get it out of my head.. Red Cliff is literally Chinese Lord of the rings but the difference between the two is that Red Cliff while yes took creative liberties it’s actually based on real events.
I paused it and I had felt like I had seen so much and then I realized I still have 4 hours left, I was so happy, there points where the music hits right and action hits right and it’s just an unstoppable force of awesomeness, then it will cut to a flag and the level of pride illuminating from the screen is practically blinding.
Honor, pride, and unity in the face of insurmountable odds and the faces behind it,
Red Cliff is a masterpiece.

I saw the shortened version which includes both parts, so I will log both.
The second half (wich I think should be mainly this part) was also again really great, the action was awesome and the movie was really good.
In the second half you defiantly realize more of the cutting and that parts are missing.
Overall this whole two in one movie was good.
But I will defiantly try to sing the Asian original full length movie day. I think I would be better because a lot of characters would need some more screen time in this.

Insane fight sequences, very well done savage depiction of war, great strategist characters and their tactics. More emotional moments in part 2. Chinese history Aura really is off the charts.

Ily woo. An amazing continuation to part one focusing more on the tactical battle between the two parts at Sea. And ofc the glorious epic final battle. This includes some of my favorite moments of the movie and I love the almost chess like game they're playing trying to gain an advantage of the opponent. Great pace, great characters and fantastic battles. Could you ask for more in a historical epic ? I don't think so
