I think it’s pretty ironic that most of the characters are wealthy yet they criticize capitalists ideologies and the bourgeoise, I feel that it’s a bit contradictory. It’s actually a very enjoyable and sincere movie I didn’t expect it to be.

The script is flawless. The character Nick stole the show, I really enjoyed every scene of his and having him leave was pivotal. Really enjoyed the wit of Whit Stillman, it is tremendous fun and this was not the coming of age film I expected. I must see Whitmans next two films because this see a bar for dialogue.

The screenplay is so sharp. This film is extremely quotable and I feel like I will find new things about it the more I watch it. This falls in to the category of “hangout” films where not much is happening plot wise, it’s just pure vibes. I love this sub-genre so much. Chris Eigelman is certainly the highlight in this, he plays the snobby rich kid so well and his delivery and timing was great.

Some how in some way more intolerably volatile then The last Days Of Disco and quite frankly makes those people out to be somewhat aligned with normality.Behind every snobbish remark or insufferably pompous statement lies insecurities and egotism.You couldn’t pay me to sit in a room with these people genuinely.This is Upperclass privilege at its very cenacle and experienced through the lens of teenagers feels like a claustrophobic nightmare.But strangely I like this film? It’s laughably brash in its interactions but equally explores something resonant within society.You don’t try and see the world from a political or social standpoint from someone else’s point of view nor do you care and how the very people you choose to interact with dictate so heavily on the standards you now put on yourself.Like a messed up group of Boy Scouts if you will.It doesn’t carry that charming humour or playfulness the same way The last days of disco does, it’s very blunt and almost all conversations aren’t actually backed up with any moral support or reasoning just with the incentive of “sounding intellectual “ which actually makes them more uninteresting.Its hard to actually pin point why I somewhat enjoyed it let alone elaborate since it would come across like I hate this film.
