It's hard to point out flaws in Thelma & Louise, a film that exudes such effortless charm as this film does. Mixing both an intimate display of character study and a grand-scale sprawling road atmosphere, it is an abundant use of multiple genre-based displays meshed together for one cohesive unit. It’s a road trip gone wrong with two powerhouse female leads escaping the chains of sexism. It's a harrowing tale of women's repression and liberation, in the form of a high-tension, high-emotion crime drama. As the titular duo, Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon have spectacular chemistry and are massively charming. By casting them, Ridley Scott created two of the most iconic female characters in the 90s, while an array of legendary male actors also did great with their respective roles. There may be some editing issues here and there, but when that last sequence comes on, everything just concludes in a perfect emotional closure. A two-hour feminist cinematic anthem.
