Imagine my surprise as I watch my way through the winners of Cannes' Palme D'Or when I find out there was an 11-way tie one year? ELEVEN! Two-way, even three-way ties are passable, but ELEVEN???!!! Come on. So I have decided to tackle these 11 winners first, because they are apparently very dull and deserve their forgotten status.
Something good I can say about Men Without Wings is that it is broadening my horizons. It is not a bad film, pretty ordinary really. But I never would've sought out a forgotten European war film if it didn't have this award linked to its name. There's nothing to write home about with this one, except for a great ending that ties together the themes of war that we have all seen a billion times. It also looks good, but other than that? It's fine.
