So uncomfortable, yet there is something so intriguing about this bunch of losers bumming around LA.
Not at all glamorized and in the era just before cell phones, everyone seems extremely bored. The summer after high school is an interesting time as most people don't have any activities they have to accomplish and are therefore left to their own devices. Buschemi acts as their window into the adult world, and is the most real character in the film. While they start off with pure chaotic energy, he serves to show them that their actions and pranks have consequences.
It's sad, and depressing and I didn't really enjoy the watch, but it's got a weird staying power and captures a feeling I don't know if I've seen captured before on film.
