Sokurav and cinematographer, Burov, have pulled off some of the most interesting shots I have seen in a long while. There is a good chunk in the beginning of the movie that feels flat, painterly, and even compressed. This removal of dimensonality actually acheives a new sense of cinematic experience.
I would love to see a proper presentation of this.
