Criterion Collection Challenge #1280
Watching the other work of Jacques Audiard was something very far down on my list until Criterion decided to put his work out there and it honestly was a well needed journey. I couldn't help but fall into the trap of wondering how the hell Amelia Perez got the love it got last year, and if this director responsible for any of that popularity and controversy. Getting to see two of his french films has confirmed that I may just not be a fan of his style of film as his stories don't move me in the way they may move others. Nonetheless the beat that my heart skipped does show a level of filmmaking that I very much missed in his newest work.
