For it’s time- this film is absolutely fantastic. However, when viewed through a modern lens, it lacks a lot of substance.
The performances are melodramatic or wooden, with little to no subtlety. The score, though wonderful, gets in the way of tense moments. The cinematography is rather plane, no shots stand out as particularly impressive.
