The Legend of Billie Jean is one of those film that’s honestly kinda insane in the best way possible. The whole story gets super dramatic over a stolen scooter but somehow you still end up completely invested in Billie Jean becoming this accidental teen hero.
The film feels SO 80s. The hair is huge. The music is great. The outfits are amazing. Half the scenes feel like an old MTV video and it makes the whole thing even more fun to watch. Helen Slater was also really cool as Billie Jean. She has that quiet “don’t mess with me” energy the entire movie. But honestly, Im here for Christian Slater (esp after watching Heathers, he's so good-looking).
And obviously “Fair is fair.” That line is cheesy but it’s the kind of cheesy that becomes iconic. By the end of the movie you’ll probably catch yourself repeating it too.
I also liked how messy everything feels. The film isn’t perfect or super deep but that’s part of the charm. It feels rebellious in a very teenage way. Like it was made by people who just wanted to make something cool instead of realistic. Overall it’s just a really fun 80s film with a lot of personality.
