This is the second documentary I've seen about Alex Honnold, and this one left me a bit disappointed. After watching a spectacle like Free Solo, this just didn't hit nearly as hard. The climb itself was exceptional, and Alex did his job perfectly. it's just that once you've seen something as mind blowing as his ascent in Free Solo, it's difficult for anything else to feel just as impressive.
The technical side was horrible. Whoever came up with the idea of live commentary should be fired from Netflix immediately. They had a real free soloist providing actual insight and yet, for unknown reasons, decided to pair her with two complete randoms who wouldn't stop yapping and completely ruined the thrill of watching Honnold climb Taipei 101.
Regardless of all criticism, I had my palms sweaty the whole time and loved watching every second of it. I just wish it wasn't so bad technically
