really such a perfect flick. there's such a sad yet warm tone yknow?? uses so many small resources to perfect effect—the creepy old men in the town, the bizarre trinkets of the house, THE MUSIC!! this is really made by the lovely lovely music. so nostalgic yet threatening. they really picked the perfect actress for jessica, she's so kind and loving that i never want anything bad to happen to her. so glad this wasn't chock full of 20somethings dear lord... when ginger vampire chicks tell me to go swimming i GO 🫡

Wasn’t expecting this to be a vampire film, and I’m not sure how I feel about it going in that direction. But the atmosphere was pretty good.

i’m wondering if all 70s folk horror films dress the normies in yellow and blue, and if there is a specific reason more than just trends or that they aren’t the designated ‘evil’ colour (for example white in stepford wives and white and red in this). while analysing stepford wives i kept trying to think of a meaning behind these choices but i genuinely couldn’t… 

anyway this film was pretty good, it’s basically everything you’d expect it to be, but in this case that works in its favour.

i love mental health in horror contexts, i read the yellow wallpaper in year 10 and still think about it daily. i think this successfully manages to pull off the struggles of a recovering mental patient and how tough it is when you’re worried no one around you will believe you.
