FLMA70 Film #2.
I am taking a midterm that will test me on this film in just over an hour. I’m currently stuck on a shuttle bus, with the risk of missing my test due to transit cancellations this morning.
Despite that, I still found Illusions to be very beautiful and moving. If I can appreciate what I’m watching while in an unfortunate situation, it’s a good testament to the film.
Mignon’s character in particular was heartbreaking and so likeable. She’s worked her way up in the film industry on the basis of no one knowing who she truly is. Her position is fragile, which both Mignon and Esther are aware of.
Esther worked her way up knowing she isn’t what the film industry wants, but has made a name for herself anyway. The mark she left on Mignon was so well done and very important.
I’d love to see Illusions as a full feature. It was wonderful and left me wanting more.
