Though the film was meant to be a thriller, there wasn’t much thrill or suspense. Just seemed like a more bland and informative version of The Social Network that focused on the founding WikiLeaks. This film wastes the talents of its cast through the messy narrative that doesn’t seem to lead anywhere. The stakes and dangers are there but Julian Assange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Daniel Domscheit-Berg (Daniel Brühl) don’t ever really seem to be facing that danger, it just lingers benignly in the background. The film tries to tackle the multiple perspectives and stakeholders involved, deviating from the Assange and Berg narrative that seemed to be what was meant to be the main focus. At least the leaks were interesting to me being someone who didn’t know much about it, with the moral dilemma and implications of leaking classified information being well communicated in the film. However, if one was aware of all this or read the book that this film was adapted from, then perhaps the only interesting aspect would have probably been lost. In that case, it’s not even worth watching.

Imma be honest and say that the only reason I watched this was because it has Daniel Brühl, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Anthony Mackie in it😭 I didn’t even know what Wikileaks was before watching this lmao It WASNT a BORING movie but I’d enjoyed it more if I understood 60% of whatever tf they were talking about 😭 I am no computer geek or Wikileaks website enjoyer or whatever so it was all basically a new language for me idk but whatever! The actors and actresses were all really great in this though, especially Benedict as Julian and Daniel as Daniel 😭
