Genuinely would have given this 5 stars if it ended after they watch the the cartoon in the church. That scene was truly a masterstroke. The ending, ruined that for me. What this story needed was a tragic equalizer, something that shifts an exploration of poverty outside the purview of a voyeur. We had that and it was beautiful, yet somehow.. with less than 5 minutes remaining in the film, he found himself back on a private plane flying far above his fellow incarcerated living in torment. And I'm meant to be joyous about it? Leaves a taste in the mouth is all. A little sour.
