one of the best opening scenes in gundam so far!! how the action just flowed from scene to scene through the colony, with (i think) the most interesting group of gundam characters, even the kids, until the plot started to get really convoluted. it’s so satisfying seeing the animation get better and better with each iteration while watching it in release order. it’s a shame f91 never got the 50 episodes it deserved, but i’m definitely checking out the crossbones manga!!

not even 5 minutes, then war just happened, the pacing is crazy

and the character development is so fucking garbage, this should have been made into a series, i can't believe they actually turned a 50 episode series into a 2 hours movie. there are many things that should have been discussed like Ronah's family and many background characters that were not conveyed, this makes the events happen just like that without any deep reasons

cecily is so fucking stupid, damn it. suddenly she left her friends for the family that had already abandoned her. when seabook tried to pick her up, the idiot actually said there was no other way out. and then, in the middle of the war, she became unstable and wanted to go back to her friends. like what the fuck are you thinking about, idiot?

I love the aesthetics of this particular era of the Universal Century. Definitely the prettiest entry into the Gundam franchise I’ve seen yet. That, and the incredible opening sequence full of classic Tomino tragic civilian carnage instantly drew me into this film.
Unfortunately, from that point on, that fact that this was initially a 50 episode series that was forcibly crammed into a 2 hour runtime became increasingly apparent. Story moves at 100 miles a minute leaving you little to no time to grow attached to characters or even remember their names. Honestly I was only able to glean a very vague idea of what the conflict was or why it was happening. And had I not had prior knowledge of Gundam and the UC I would’ve been lost completely. There were quite a few technically well executed emotional beats that surely would have actually resonated had those plot points been given the proper time to play out.
Great OST and some really awesome action sequences. Really liked how this one built on the concept of Newtypes and their abilities.

Seabrook Arno is both a ridiculous and awesome name for a protagonist.
