The second part is a complete shift in tone and it is a pretty wild ride compared to the original Tobe Hooper basically turned it into a wacky dark comedy with a ton of over-the-top gore and campy acting Chop Top is an incredibly hilarious addition to the family and Dennis Hopper is completely unhinged running around with chainsaws It completely loses that raw documentary terror that made the first movie so scary but it is still highly entertaining if you just embrace the pure 80s goofiness It definitely is not a masterpiece but it works as a fun and bizarre popcorn movie.

Wow this sucks… but it is fun. It’s a complete subversion from the original which makes it way worse. On its own it’s a fun horror comedy with chainsaw battles and theme parks and a killer character called chop top (pun intended) this movie is so weird it’s alright and definitely needs a watch if your a TCM fan even if it sucks
