First and foremost, everyone involved should be arrested for animal cruelty. The budget is all on the screen and there’s no way they handled any of this humanely. 

Apart from that, it’s a surprisingly effective sword and sandal action fantasy? It’s definitely boring at times, but it’s far more competent than I expected. Painted Tiger aside.

This honestly isn’t a good movie but I really enjoyed watching it. Lots of cool fx and I love the animals a lot. There is obviously lots of things I just don’t like about this movie but the things it gets right give it a lot of charm. Some of the fight scenes are incredibly fun and the costumes look amazing.The fact that this is rated PG is insane. There is some intense scenes with children being killed and full frontal nudity that leads into a creepy scene that really should not have been in this film. 

I watched the 4K vinegar syndrome release of this and if this is the kind of film you like I would recommend getting that. 

Also the bird people are badass.
