First off, I did not choose to watch this, anyways, Not good at all, a nothing burger of a movie really. I hated the constant narration over the movie. I hate when films do that, it’s really annoying. It’s really quite hard to write a review for it because nothing happened throughout the film. One good thing I will say is that the sets were pretty good, they almost had a Wes Anderson style to them. The only reason it’s not in the red is because it is a bit cute but for the most part it’s just weird and boring and amateurly made. Nothing about this screams for me to rewatch it so I won’t.

Deeply personal autobiographical films like this are usually difficult to skirt away from the line of self indulgence but this film didn’t cross that line. Weirdly though, with such broad concepts easy to resonate to, this still fell on its face a bit in terms of getting me engaged. Most concepts explored with Travolta’s passion for aviation feel too surfaced and trapped inside the general sense of passion that many share for something. And while that could be a gripping exigence for this film, most of the depiction of the passion on screen feels like a simple capsule of sweetly stitched memories, missing a greater intent of connecting those moments all to a larger theme. I can say the 60 minutes did fly by fast, but that’s probably attributed more to its narrative style of cutting quickly from one topic to the next concisely. Even that doesn’t work and feels a bit too expository, ruining the immersion that savoring every moment would bring. Travolta’s over-explanatory narration doesn’t help either when the real magic has opportunity to be captured on the screen or through just genuine dialogue.
