Holy moly guacamole, how does this movie do it? I don’t even know. Before this, the last three movies I watched were all goofy Beatles movies, but this is so different. I’ve watched Elephant, so I kind of expected something like it empty, haunting, long, and lacking substance, but still very entertaining. There are a handful of shots where the camera kind of zooms out or stays in place on a person and they pass by so fast, they’re like break periods throughout the slow, winding film that didn’t need any breaks, which makes it feel so surreal and realistic. I really did love this. I’m so glad it’s not what I expected it to be.
