I’ve seen this story a ton of times, but this was honestly really well done. A solid, straightforward version of the "independent woman chooses her art" trope.

It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it’s a comfortable watch and the lead performance carries it.

i'm torn because there's so many things i loved about this - judy davis' performance, feminism, pillow fight, gorgeous shots (especially the end shot). but honestly a lot of the times it felt like not much was happening. also doesn't help that i have an aversion to period dramas.
