accidentally skipped over this one during my adaptation watches oops but ngl i don’t think i was really missing much either way … although i have to acknowledge the significance of this being the first “talkie” adaptation of alice in wonderland, it falls somewhat short in comparison to the others. some of the performances and technical effects didn’t hit quite the same, and while in the past i’d been defending such shortages due to the nature of the time, considering the fact that i think certain aspects of the 1915 version were superior to this one, i don’t think it’s a valid defense anymore. i think the film’s stage-like nature doesn’t help its case either, as certain scenes seemed to lose that whimsical spirit that the others had
