a reform for the child’s play franchise, ditching the meta-humour of bride + seed (which kinda gave new life to the series) and going back to the suspenseful slasher horror of the first film. it mostly works, and the gothic setting was really cool. however, this was kinda underwhelming in comparison to some of the campier sequels, and i kinda just prefer it when it leans more into comedy than horror, it’s a decent dtv sequel (that has its problems, like tiffany is barely here, and glenda just isn’t here whatsoever) but for what it is, it’s good. the post-credits scene is the main reason this movie isn’t any lower, those last five minutes honestly gave me life.
