Gorilla Bathes at Noon
A disappointing Makavejev film, attempting to exploit his “peculiarities” (sexual discourse, political oppression/commentary, war footage) but sadly the transgressive nature of his early works has vanished and we are left with a rather dull comedy that is genuinely funny at times and it’s interesting to see the way he interpreted militarism & post Soviet life but overall the simplicity can be gruelling.
