I didn't really understand all of the politics at play, wether it was me just missing it or I would need to do some research it just didn't land. So that whole aspect didn't really make sense to me, neither did the fact that this movie is called The Boxer which is probably the least important part of the film. If anything you coulda called it The Lover or The Fighter or so many other options. I did enjoy Danny (or as pronounced in the movie Donny) and Maggie's relationship. That part of the film really stood out, and where Daniel Day Lewis really shined. Everything else felt very convoluted and thrown together to work around that idea. If they would have given a little more history to Danny's character as well that would have made him maybe a little more 3 dimensional and not so flat.
