as “mediocre” as this film may seem, the pacing was amazing and it was very immersive and thrilling for me, i found it nearly impossible to put down. of course its an extremely over saturated plot line thats insanely predictable, but sometimes its about the journey. its really just your run of the mill, late 2000s thriller, but this film like many others that fall into the same nano-genre as this, was entirely entertaining. its not trying to reinvent the wheel or provide deep underlying themes, its the kind of movie you watch after a long, mentally draining day of work where you can just turn your brain off, kick back, and relax (aka exactly what i was looking for).
i will say, the entire plot hinging on some petty thief somehow stealing a hyper-important suitcase from a trained assassin is nothing short of wet steamy dogshit. like the assassin is quoted as “one bullet in the spine, one in the head, that is the mark of a pro…” and you are trying to have me believe he would’ve put himself in a situation where a suitcase containing all the evidence to blow this conspiracy wide open could be stolen? yeah, ok man.
