Um…I dunno, man….
Ok, the facts:
* This is a 90-minute pilot for a tv series (which was not optioned).
* Leonard Nimoy plays a psychic race car driver (!).
Susan Hampshire plays, er, I guess like a rare book dealer or something (there’s not much background) with an unexplained interest in the occult.
*They team up to get to the bottom of Nimoy’s visions which involves a lot of screaming, some wide-eyed looks, and a manor house in England.
With me so far?
There are a load of worse-than-usual process shots (it actually opens with one!), a garage/dungeon/wine cellar combo, and masked villain (no spoilers here, you’ll have to guess which character is in a mask yourself!).
There’s some comedy, some sexism, one of the least convincing kissing scenes I’ve ever beheld, flashforwards within flashbacks (or is it the other way around?), and aging (both directions) indicated solely by skirt length and dress cutouts.
Sample line of dialogue: “It took me three years to get from 12 to 15!”
If nothing else appeals to you, fast forward to about 57 mins in at behold the most amazing head bonking ever filmed. Really. It’s, um, incredible.
I would 110% watch more episodes of this but, despite ending with a set up for the next episode, alas there are no more.
1.5 stars for the movie, 1.5 stars for the bonk.
