You never know what you'll get digging through obscure 80's anime; this one was quite the treat. I'm completely unfamiliar with the source material, but quickly fell in love with the atmosphere. The entire episode is mysterious and alluring with beautiful animation. While truncated, the episode does enough to compensate for narrative gaps with intrigue built through style. Certainly more spectacle than substance, but style earns this big points. Rintaro is now officially on my radar, so I'd like to see what else he cooked up.
