as much as many people hate them i will always be such a huge fanatic of musicals like nothing or no one could ever make me hate them and this one had everything in it i felt like the 2 main actors did such an amazing job that you could really feel the chemistry between them both and also the singing in this film was no joke like some of them had some vocals and didn’t come on to set to play and i loved that not to also mention all the really well choreographed dance sequences between both the rival gangs like neither of the two were messing around when it came to it like who doesn’t love a good lil dance sequence here and there this film delivered just that also the songs in the film were very catchy at times and some even still a bit stuck in my head but after finishing this film i will say that as a latino myself after looking up the cast and finding that the so called “latinos” that were in the film weren’t even played by actual latinos which i was highly disappointed about except for miss rita moreno who was an actual latina and did such an excellent job in her role and her voice was so angelic and was carrying so much in her scenes and some will say “oh it was a whole different time” like that some justifies it like im not sure why they couldn’t just cast actual latinos to play role latino characters like i still very much enjoyed the singing and dancing sequences in the film i just wasn’t very fond of the brownface but that’s just what i personally felt
