I'm currently reading Killers of The Flower Moon, and I know Scorsese has a list of companion films that go with his work and that. I looked at that list and saw this short silent film that goes with KOTFM.

Great short. Silent films are a huge blind spot for me, and this one was good. It shows the impact that white culture left on natives. It's heartbreaking to see how the chief's son turned out after going to the white school. I mean we put natives through hell, and I am so sorry that they had to go through that.

Insane how modern this feels, given it was made in 1914. Probably in large part down to the score, which gothicly demands attention with sinister majesty.

The influence this has on Killers of the Flower Moon is clear, Scorsese parades it as a inspiration, but I was struck by the influence this has on another (better) 21st century masterpiece - Parasite. What a great excuse for another rewatch of that beautifully orchestrated dream.
