Gregory Peck is so cool in this. It’s a great "ticking clock" Western that focuses way more on the psychological toll of being a legend than just mindless shootouts. That mustache is iconic, and the tension is high throughout the whole thing.

​I’ll admit the ending let me down a little bit. It felt like it leaned into a trope I’ve seen in way too many other Westerns, which is a bummer because the rest of it felt so fresh and bleak for 1950. Still a great watch, even if the finale felt a bit predictable.

A great movie that explored excellent themes. And the movie did a great job displaying those themes. Being the “tough” guy in life is not the way to go. The ending especially was so profound and deep. Only thing I wish is that the story was a bit faster.

The Gunfighter, starring Gregory Peck, turns the often sought after fame of the gunfighter into a curse worse than death and I think that’s such a dope premise. Peck had a weak cowboy mustache and that kinda bugged me ngl.
