I watched this as a recommendation from one of my coworkers.
I noped the fuck out of this movie after the first 20 minutes. Here’s why.
The most important thing: Autism Speaks, which is a corporation that’s basically the devil to autistic people (Google it), sponsored this film. I’m not going to watch a film that a corporation, that believes in things such as curing autism, sponsors.
The second thing: I’m not at all crazy about non-autistic actors who play autistic characters. Those who know me personally especially knows that with my opinions on Music. I do have a couple exceptions, like Dakota Fanning in Please Stand By. I didn’t see a lot of Lou Taylor Pucci’s performance, but it didn’t sit well with me. It’s hard for me to picture one of the guys from the Evil Dead remake playing an autistic character.
If I knew about the Autism Speaks thing before I saw this film, I never would’ve watched it. It’s heart is in the right place, but I certainly don’t approve of this film.
