I like when it went full slapstick comedy for a bit

my favorite old hollywood musical, and lemme tell you why:

1. absolutely fantastic editing2. alot of old hollywood musicals sometimes feel like they tried to make a real thin simple plot to tie together some cool dance numbers (ex. anchors aweigh, which is a banger of a film) but this one feels like it has some good purpose behind it3. CYD CHARISSE4. GENE KELLY TAP DANCING IN ROLLER SKATES HOLY SHIT5. shockingly passes the bechdel test6. theres a lady in one scene that has blue hair like slayyy omg7. cyd charisse’s character OH MY GOD I LOVE HER! i love that shes just a boxing dork but also a competent working woman and shes just. AUGH!8. the blue danube scene, its so funny and i feel like i never expect that kinda stuff from these movies9. it literally ends in a fantastically choreographed fight scene WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT!10. did i say cyd charisse i dont think i mentioned her

theres more but this is all that comes to mind. uhhhhh i love this movie so much it deserves the same status as singin in the rain

It would’ve been a star lower but Gene Kelly tap dancing on roller skates, and singing about his love life is the type of shit I’d pull.

Shout-out Franklin for putting me on to this. Ever since I watched Singin in the Rain I've been looking for another musical of that quality, and this comes pretty close. I had heard of the infamous roller skating tap dancing, and it lived up to the hype. Gene Kelly can do some impressive stuff on those skates. All of the other songs/dance numbers were great too. The final fight got me excited for WrestleMania this weekend, they were pulling off some great moves. I once again found myself smiling throughout the movie. Just a lotta fun.
