I thought perhaps by returning to the core premise of a creepy child, this would finally be even a little scary again, but no. This is perhaps the least scary and most sanitized entry in the franchise. Mostly I came out of it just feeling bad for the little girl who was honestly not creepy enough to drive her mother to insane paranoia about her. I mean, I know the mother was right about her, but the evidence was WAY too flimsy to just assume your child is evil.
Also, there is a very funny bit where a snake wrangler is bitten by the MANY snakes she is holding and the doctors call it a freak accident while the mother takes it as further proof of evil intervention. But like… the woman started panicking while holding venomous snakes. That’s neither a freak accident nor divine intervention. That’s just consequences of reckless behavior!
